This elegant turn-of-the-century Victorian Queen Anne style home was designed by renowned architect J.H. Jeffers for Stevens Point merchant J.L. Jensen in 1901. Three generations of the Jensen family lived in this house until 1987 when it was purchased and restored by present owners, Bonnie and Bill Maher as their private residence. In 1990 the Mahers opened their home as a bed and breakfast rightfully named Dreams of Yesteryear. Still today original golden oak woodwork, hardwood floors, leaded glass windows, breathtaking architecture, period antiques and exquisite decor are a few features that make Dreams of Yesteryear "the kind of place Victorian dreams are made of".

Location
Dreams of Yesteryear awaits you in the heart of Wisconsin, just two blocks from the Wisconsin River, three blocks from historic downtown Stevens Point and within walking distance of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point campus. Within minutes, you can enjoy fine restaurants, antique and specialty shops, cross-country skiing, golfing, tennis, biking or jogging along the scenic trails of Stevens Point's Green Circle.

Accommodations
The Ballroom Suite is so named because this suite is located on the third floor which was intended to have been a ballroom when the house was originally built. The original height of the third floor - 14 feet from floor to ridgepole - is evident in the bedroom area where a chandelier, capped window and a loft overlook the bed. The Roman arched window, Norman Bay and other Queen Anne details are easily apparent in this room. And of course, the bathroom complete with whirlpool tub makes this an especially elegant place to relax and enjoy the quiet. The suite is decorated in burgundy, lavender and ivory wallpapers. It includes a queen size Victorian iron and brass angel bed and its own cozy sitting area and cable TV. The spacious private bath is appointed with polished brass fixtures and sculptured ceramic tile. $135.00
Photos and memorabilia from the early days of Stevens Point are found in the Heritage Suite. Looking at the pictures and items found in this room can only remind one of what life must have been like in 1901 when this grand home was built. The Heritage Suite is unique in architectural details and is decorated in peach and green Victorian wall coverings. This suite has a queen sized brown wicker bed, antique leaded glass windows, cable TV, a private sitting room and a cozy Norman bay and a private bath with a unique custom glass, brass, and ceramic tile walk-in shower. $97
Isabella was a daughter of the original Jensen family who lived in the house. According to newspaper articles, Isabella died at only five years of age. She never actually got to live in this house, but nevertheless we've dedicated this room to her. The Isabella Room is decorated in navy, white, and mauve. This large room with a bay is adorned in antiques and includes a queen size cherry and mahogany Victorian bed and a small library and TV. A private old-fashioned bath with a footed tub, brass shower ring, and pull-chain water closet is attached. $83
Florence Myrna was the second daughter of the original Jensen family. According to newspaper articles, Florence Myrna's wedding was "one of the most elaborate and most interesting that have ever taken place in Stevens Point." Her wedding guest list was a virtual "Who's Who" of Stevens Point. The Florence Myrna Room is graced with gardenia wall coverings, a double bed and antiques. The handsomely coordinated forest green ceramic tile private bathroom with walk-in-neo-angular shower is attached. $72
Gareld's Room was named after the second generation Jensen who owned this house. Gareld Jensen was a dentist and a used car salesman. His claim to fame was that he gave "ballpoint pens...to all men leaving for service from here [Stevens Point]." This room is light and airy with French blue wall coverings, and twin beds (or one king). A few steps away, the balcony is an exceptionally elegant feature of this room. This room shares a first floor bath featuring a large tub and separate custom shower. $66
The Maid's Quarters is located at the top and left of the "maid's stairwell." The hallway connecting this room to the rest of the second floor rooms could and still can be closed off from the rest of the bedrooms. This room is decorated in romantic peach with antique furnishings and a double bed. A private maid's stairway leads to the first floor shared bath. $55
