The James House

This grand Victorian mansion sits on the bluff with sweeping views of Port Townsend Bay, the Cascade and Olympic mountain ranges. One the National Register of Historic Places and located within the historic district of Port Townsend, The James House has been exquisitely maintained inside and out. It is the first bed and breakfast in the Northwest, and continues today with its fine tradition of elegance, warmth, and hospitality. This grand Victorian mansion was built in 1889 by Francis W. James as a gift to his wife. Overnight in this fine old mansion is an elegant and romantic reminder of another era when the bay was filled with tall sailing ships and the streets were bustling with activity of a thriving seaport town.

A short, pleasant walk from The James House takes you to the downtown district filled with fine restaurants, shops, galleries, museum, and waterfront. Other short walks take you to miles of beaches, delightful parks, or to the uptown district, where you will find mansions, historic homes, and beautiful residential gardens. Whether you like to walk, hike, bicycle, kayak, shop, or just sit and enjoy the view—there is something for everyone in Port Townsend!

Accommodations
There are 12 rooms available at the James House, including the Master/Bridal suite, two 2-room suites, and the renovated Gardener's Cottage. Each room is uniquely decorated with period antiques. Most rooms have expansive water views and private baths.
