Llamas and African violets are only two of the delightful surprises at this relaxed country inn, nestled on a mountainside overlooking the Battenkill River. It is customary for guests to leave with a lovely African violet. In addition to the llamas, fishpond & bird feeding station there are cheerful rooms & a rich outdoor world to explore.
Trails for hiking or wilderness x-country skiing, & river sports opportunities abound. Guests dine on exceptional New England country cuisine in an atmosphere filled with a spirit of genuine warmth & hospitality. Mobil 4-Stars.

Location
The Inn is located on 150 acres of wooded mountainside on the Battenkill River, just off Route 313 in the village of Arlington, in southwestern Vermont - about an hour's drive from the nearest airport, in Albany, New York, and about four hours driving time from both New York City and Boston.

Accommodations
The Inn offers our guests a choice of eighteen rooms and suites, in a wide variety of sizes and configurations, located in three buildings: the Inn, the Cottage in the Pines and the historic Millhouse. Each is unique, individually and distinctively decorated in a country style. All have private bath, and Gwendolyn's Room offers barrier-free access. Like the rest of the Inn, all rooms are smoke-free. In guest rooms the guests will find fresh fruit, a trail map welcoming them to hike our "back forty," and an innkeeper-written guide to southern Vermont which includes, several self guided day trips, bike loops, and hiking tours. Of course, West Mountain Inn tradition also requires that each visitor return home with an African violet.

Meals
The Inn serves a hearty breakfast each morning and a fine country dinner each evening to both overnight guests and outside guests. The Inn's menu changes seasonally but always consists of creatively prepared country cuisine complemented by the Inn's extensive wine list. Guests dine in our wood-paneled dining room complete with fireplace, candlelight and the Inn's most splendid views. Warmth and hospitality abound.
