Location During your stay at L'Auberge Provencale, travel the backroads of beautiful Clarke County, nestled in the Shenandoah Valley framed by the rolling Blue Ridge Mountains. Enjoy antiquing, horseback riding, hiking, biking, golfing, canoeing, or balooning, or simply while wile away the day on our spacious porch with a glass of wine, enjoying the simpler pleasures: respite from the otherwise hectic world. Accommodations Return to one of our guest rooms or suites, each tastefully and individually decorated with European and Victorian antiques, some with fireplaces, all with private bath. Meals In the morning a full gourmet breakfast is included, featuring, featuring fresh homemade croissants, breakfast breads, cafe au lait and fresh juice. First course may include orange blossom waffles with berries and creme fraiche or apple crepes with maple syrup. This is followed by creative entrees, perhaps with eggs on sauteed tomato with herbs, wilted spinach, wild mushrooms, cottage fries, lobster cakes and quail, "a breakfast of one's dreams" Washington Post. Dine evenings at the main manor house, Mt. Airy (circa 1753) in one of the three intimate dining rooms, decorated with antiques, fine art, Provencale fabrics, and artifacts from Spain and France. Using herbs and vegetables from our own garden, and the freshest ingredients, many from local farmers, Chef Alain creates elegant cuisine with definite seasonings as in Provence, with a light hand on the sauces; each a picture to please the eye as well as the palate. Complement your dining experience with excellent wines from our extensive wine cellar featuring French and American chateau wines.
