Crossing the threshold begins a special treat for you at the McKay House--a romantic experience that helps restore one's faith in enduring values.

Location
In the Town of Jefferson, in northeast Texas, on the Cypress Bayou, the source of ancient Caddo Lake, the only natural lake in Texas. And a special lake it is: WALT DISNEY made several movies here. Boat rides are available on the Bayou and at the Lake. Abundant resources and a verdant environment beckon. Jefferson was a major supply depot for the Confederate States. With abundant local iron ore, foundries helped equip the Confederacy during the Civil War. Afterwards, Yankee Soldiers occupied the town for 10 years, and exacted a price -- but the town survived and prospered throughout the steamboat era. Today, the town attracts visitors who appreciate history, romance, classic architecture, fine dining and a relaxing get-away.

Each of the seven guest chambers has a private bath. Choice bedchambers available in two venues: The Main House with five guest chambers: from the elegant McKay Room (Lady Bird's favorite) to the luxurious upstairs Gable Suites. Victorian Details: In each bedchamber, you will find a Victorian nightgown and old fashioned sleep shirt laid out for a lullaby night. Authentic furnishings and amenities of the period throughout.
