The Rhett House Inn dates back to 1820 when Beaufort was a prominent coastal town noted for its rich culture and politics. Bordering the Intracoastal Waterway and in the historic district, the Rhett House Inn is perfectly situated to discover the glory of the South Carolina low country.
Elegant antebellum era inspired decor and fresh orchids create a warm and charming ambiance throughout the inn. All rooms have cable television, telephone, compact disc player, and private bathrooms equipped with hair dryers and robes. Many of the rooms feature fire places, private balconies, and whirlpool baths. Guest rooms in the newly renovated historic cottage have private entrances and porches-perfect for a romantic getaway. We look forward to welcoming you to the Rhett House Inn and making your getaway a luxurious and unique experience. Rates include accommodations, bicycles, breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening hors d'oeuvres.
Whether you're inside or outdoors, there is always a place to relax. The verandahs are perfect for afternoon tea with homemade cookies and brownies or evening hors d'oeuvres with wine and cocktails. Indoors, the main living room made warm and cozy by English and American antiques is a perfect place to socialize or read by the fire.
Golf, tennis, swimming, fishing, and kayaking can all be coordinated by our staff. Quiet time can easily be had at the inn by indulging in a massage, relaxing by the fountain, or strolling through the landscaped gardens that are so romantic they are often used for weddings.
Start the day with our delicious breakfast of pancakes, french toast, or eggs (menu changes daily), fresh fruit, and true southern grits. Let the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and homemade muffins be inspirational for a day of exploration. Biking is the most preferred means of sightseeing, but carriage tours, sunset cruises, historic walks, and strolling the shops in town are also excellent ways to capture the feeling of Beaufort.
Gourmet picnics, available upon request, are perfect for the beach, waterfront, or verandah.
