Enjoy the historic and natural beauty of this 600 acre traditional Southern plantation. Elegant accommodations are available in the Plantation House and in unique guest cottages. Tastefully secluded since 1750, Litchfield Plantation offers a relaxed atmosphere with resort amenities.
Location
Litchfield Plantation is located in Pawleys Island, S.C., 30 miles South of Myrtle Beach and 15 miles North of Georgetown, SC. The Pawleys Island area is serviced by the Myrtle Beach Jetport with flights arriving daily through Delta, USAir, and American Airlines.
Standing since 1750, the Litchfield Plantation House was constructed on King's grant land owned by Peter Simons, a rice planter. The property consisted of over 1900 acres and stretched from the Waccamaw River to the oceanfront, then known as Magnolia Beach. In 1794 the property was equally divided between Simons' two sons, thereby establishing the properties of Willbrook and Litchfield Plantations. Two centuries later, Litchfield is the only original plantation mansion on the Waccamaw that faces a live oak avenue, and it continues to captivate visitors with its breathtaking beauty. The Carriage House Club complements the Plantation House in the stately style of old brick and slate, with sweeping vistas indigenous to the grand era of the Southern rice plantation.
