Location
Pelham Street was the first street to be lighted by gas in the United States, as well as home of the United States Naval Academy between 1861 and 1865. The La Forge Cottage is perfectly situated within walking distance to all that Newport offers. Bellevue Avenue with its mansions, shops, Tennis Hall of Fame, and museums is only one block above, and the waterfront area with all its well known restaurants, galleries, and historic sites is just two blocks below the house.
