The Hotel Manisses, built in 1870, and was known as one of the best summer hotels in the East. The Abrams Family saved this historic Victorian landmark from being torn down in 1972. After being artistically renovated, refurbished and restored, The Manisses is even more beautiful than when it was Block Island's showplace hotel in 19th century. The hotels offer visitors five extraordinary places to stay, creative meals to eat, an animal farm and gardens to visit, and time to enjoy the tranquillity of this unspoiled island.

Location
Central location, a short walk from the beach or ferry landing in Old Harbor and a few minutes by taxi from the airport and the New Harbor Ferry Landing.

Accommodations
Whether you stay in the 1661 Inn and 1661 Guest House, the Hotel Manisses itself, or one of the guest cottages, your stay will be a memorable and relaxing getaway. Each of the seventeen rooms in the Hotel itself is individually decorated with antique furnishings and each one named after a famous ship wrecked before 1870. The 18 rooms in the 1661 Inn are individually decorated and each is named after one of the original settlers of Block Island. All of the rooms have telephones, most have private baths, and some have Jacuzzis.

Meals
A full breakfast--including eggs, corned beef hash, muffins, blue fish, fruit, and more.
Lauded by Gourmet Magazine for its "unexpectedly sophisticated" fare, the Hotel Manisses' dining room serves dinner every evening in the summer season and weekends during the off season. The Manisses' menu offers fresh seafood selections and other delicious entrees that are fresh, complex, surprising, and satisfying. Gourmet describes the menu as "impressive for both originality and variety," and praised it without reservation or criticism. The food magazine extolled the owners of the 1661 Inn and Hotel Manisses as harbingers of the Block Island renaissance.

Amenities
To stay here is to find a place where waves crash on unspoiled beaches, grassy cliffs offer spectacular views, and rolling hills are speckled with wild flowers and fresh water ponds. The hotels offer visitors five extraordinary places to stay, creative meals to eat, an animal farm and gardens to visit, and time to enjoy the tranquillity of this unspoiled island.
