RUAH is located on the northern end of Lake George where the simple pleasures are paramount. It is owned and operated by Judy and Peter Foster. Peter is a landscape architect and the spectacular gardens reflect his passion and talent. Judy is a floral designer and her touch is evident throughout the elegant home. The stately home was built by Harry Waltrous in 1900. Mr. Waltrous was a well-known turn-of-the-century artist. Prior to the Foster's purchase, the home was frequented by many sports and show business personalities, including Jack Dempsey, Arthur Godfrey and Bing Crosby.

The opportunity to stay in one of Northern Lake George's "Great and Gracious" homes is now yours. The bedrooms are oversized and elegantly appointed. All have private baths, some have fireplaces and access to the 80' balcony that spans across the front of the house with breathtaking panoramic views of Lake George, The Waltonian Islands and the Adirondack Mountains.

Boating, Canoeing, Fishing, Hiking, Island-picnicking, Mountain climbing, Golf, Tennis, Horseback riding, Bass tournaments, Visiting Fort Ticonderoga & other local historical sites, Enjoying outdoor summer concerts under the tent, Sailing, or just watch the Northern Lake George Yacht Club races from the front porch.
Accommodations
"The Queen of the Lakes". The oversized master bedroom suite features a large working fireplace, king-size bed, antique fainting couch, adjoining private bathroom with window seat and unique antique coral-covered bathtub and showers. The room has access to the balcony and has spectacular views from every window. A king-size room for the king and his queen.
"The Waltonian". An oversized room with a large working fireplace, twin antique crib beds together as a king size bed, dressing table, lounge, adjoining private bathroom, and two balconies with spectacular views. The southern balcony has private access.
"Flirtation". This bedroom has a working fireplace, king size bed and french doors opening onto the balcony and has a view of the Lake and Waltonian Islands. It has a private oversized bathroom with dressing table across the hall.
"Asas". A spacious sunny room with a working fireplace, queen-size bed, and private bathroom across the hall. Its wall of windows has a view of Hague Bay and the mountains.
Amenities
RUAH has large, bright common rooms with massive windows that bring "The Queen of the Lakes" and the surrounding Adirondack Mountains into every room. The living room is 50 x 30 with several sitting areas and magnificent fieldstone fireplace. Some of the original antiques and paintings still furnish the house. The marvelous antique grand piano sits in the living room waiting for guests to sit and play. The grand 30' dining room features a coffer ceiling and large bay windows facing south and east.
Meals
A hot country breakfast is served in the dining room at 9:00 a.m. For early risers, coffee, juice, fresh fruit and cereal is available at 8 a.m. Breakfast can be enjoyed in either the dining room or on the veranda. (The dining room is suitable for small meetings or gatherings).
