Hacienda Del Sol, Taos, New Mexico

Taos mountain is our backyard. Hacienda del Sol consists of three adobe buildings, with the original building dating back to 1804.

Location
Situated on 1.2 acres, the hacienda adjoins several thousand acres of Taos Pueblo land, and Taos Mountain, considered sacred by the Taos Indians, provides a commanding backdrop to our backyard.

Accommodations
All rooms have private baths. Some rooms have refrigerators. We've made room for romance. Thick adobe walls, viga and latilla ceilings, arched pueblo-style doorways and large quiet rooms reflect the Southwestern charm that abounds throughout Hacienda del Sol. Each guest room has its own distinct character: original art, antique hand-crafted furniture, old trunks, retablos, hand-woven baskets, specially woven rugs, patch work quilts and great-to-snuggle-under down comforters. Nine of the rooms have corner adobe fireplaces and most have mountain views. Each room has a private bath, two even have their own private Jacuzzi and two more have their own steam rooms. We have provided a cassette player in each room and a special selection of tapes, a little night music, a lot of romance.

Amenities
Latilla fencing and adobe walls surround beautifully landscaped grounds with outdoor jacuzzi hot tub. To date, 600 daffodils, 2000 tulip bulbs, and numerous fruit trees, shrubs and perennials have been planted. Though Hacienda del Sol means "House of the Sun" in Spanish, towering cottonwoods, elms, willows and blue spruces shade our hacienda in the summertime. The yard behind the main house is ringed with old lilac bushes which fill the air with their fragrance every spring. Three large golden willows add a graceful aura of romance to our backyard, the setting for numerous summer weddings.

Our history is as colorful as our gardens. When you enter the front gates of the Hacienda del Sol, you are stepping into part of the artistic history of Taos itself.

Meals
Our guests wake up with the aroma of our freshly-ground, special blend coffee in the air and a newspaper available in the dining room. Enjoy them together with a delicious breakfast, our famous blue corn pancakes with blueberry sauce or our blintz souffle, for example. We'll serve you beside a roaring fire in the winter or on the patio in the summer.

Afternoon refreshments Monday - Sunday, 4:30pm
