Built in 1891 for Confederate veteran and businessman William E. Breese, Cedar Crest is known for its captain's walk, turrets, and expansive verandas. Ornate woodwork, said to be that of the same artisans employed by Vanderbilt at his nearby Biltmore Estate, is featured prominently inside, perhaps most ornately in the parlor's carved oak corner mantel and crown molding. Spacious bedrooms are furnished with period antiques and may have canopied or brass beds, Victorian laces, fireplace, or claw-foot tubs.

The most astonishing feature of Cedar Crest is the robust first floor interior woodwork executed with a degree of lavishness. The parlor is an ornamented display of richly carved oak and dominated by a corner fireplace. Music Room, gardens, croquet. Nearby Skiing, hiking golf, and white water rafting.
Meals
A luxurious buffet breakfast is served daily with seating in the dining room or on the spacious verandah. Cedar Crest offers a delicious hot entree; the season's fresh or hot compotes of fruit; juices; cereals; pastries, sweet breads, muffins and croissants warm from the Cedar Crest ovens. For those special mornings, your hosts and staff are delighted to serve a Chamber breakfast, bringing the morning delight to you "bedside". Afternoons you'll be refreshed with ice tea and lemonade on warm summer days; fresh cider during the magnificent autumn and hot wassail for winter holidays. Finally at day's end, to insure a most relaxing evening, Cedar Crest invites you to enjoy hot chocolate, coffee, tea and cookies by a cozy fireplace in the parlor, study or grand foyer.
