"If ever an inn and a setting were made for each other, this is it - Camden, Maine and the Whitehall Inn." Circa 1834 operated by the Dewing family for 27 years. One of the few remaining authentic coastal summer hotels preserving not only it's history, but the commitment to comfortable accommodations, gracious service, and dining excellence. Home to the Edna St. Vincent Millay collection.

Location
Tree-lined streets in this historic neighborhood echo the feeling of old fashioned friendliness and hospitality in this rambling, homey inn.

Accommodations
Each of our 50 rooms has its own unique charm and special appeal. It may be a Currier & Ives print in one room, a spool bed in another, or a favorite view in still another. Antiques from several periods are tastefully integrated throughout the Inn. Grandfather clocks by Seth Thomas and Hoadley, a Queen Anne desk here, and an eighteenth century cabinet there. Our lobby and adjacent parlors are covered with a remarkable collection of antique oriental rugs. The inn has a variety of bed types, offering King, Queen,a Double, and two Twin beds with private bath. There are also single rooms available for one person, and adjoining rooms for larger parties. The bedrooms afford views of the gardens, woods, or a glimpse of the bay.

Meals
We are particularly proud of our dining room which has been featured in several publications. Breakfast breads or muffins, pastries, cakes, rolls are all baked fresh every day in our Down East kitchen. Maine blueberries are native to the region and we serve them often in all kinds of taste-tempting ways. Our chef creates marvelous homemade chowders and soups served both hot and cold. Whitehall dinner entrees feature a variety of fresh broiled and baked seafood. The fish served is always the last catch of the day. Some of our seafood specialties include Eastern Salmon, Halibut, local Scallops, Haddock, Swordfish, Maine Shrimp and Crabmeat. Special sauces are created to complement many of our original and exciting entrees. Steamed Maine Lobster is always available. Our meat and poultry are all of the highest quality. All fruit, vegetables and eggs are purchased from local farms when available. This assures crisp salads, tasty vegetables and "just ripe" fruit. Formal traditions from the past are retained, such as candlelight, classical music, linen and a courteous, attentive staff. Whitehall Inn takes great pride in our fine selection of wines carefully chosen to complement our cuisine.

Amenities
With sprawling porches, patios, and parlors, you can always find a corner to sit in and reflect on the comforts that Whitehall Inn has to offer. There are no television sets in the rooms, but there is always a jig-saw puzzle asking to be completed in the lobby, a chess board by the fireplace, and hundreds of books to read. Antique wooden rockers on the porches invite you to rest and enjoy the pure, fresh sea breeze that blows off Penobscot bay, just a short walk away.
