Founded in 1771 by Colonel Ebenezer Crafts. As a tavern and
pub during pre-revolutionary times, the Publick House gained a fine reputation among travelers on the Old Colonial Post Road. The weary traveler found the Publick House a fine stopover where he would be met with hearty food and drink, and gracious hospitality. Colonel Craft's legacy is evident everywhere at the Publick House. The Colonel planted many of the great oaks and maples which majestically survey the grounds of the Publick House today. And the Colonel's robust spirit lives on in the hearty gourmet meals and famous for years all over New England.
