The Queen Anne Bed & Breakfast

Samuel Good, a South Bend native, made a fortune from the Gold Rush. He built this Queen Anne Neo-Classical residence in 1893 and gave it to his daughter, Mabel, as a wedding gift. The Frank Lloyd Wright designed bookcases and ornate stairway with hand-carved newel post are but a few of the outstanding architectural features of the house. Mabel's seventeen-room house reflects his prominence in banking and industry. The original oak floors, silk wallpaper, and mirrored buffet still make the interior rich and warm. The wrap around porch, lined with columns, welcomes you to Mabel's home-now the Queen Anne Inn.

Accommodations
The CARDINAL room. This two room suite has a fireplace with an electric log, a wonderful bay window to look over the city or just curl up with a good book in a queen-sized brass and pewter bed. The bathroom's antique shower fixtures and small white tiles are reminiscent of long ago. This was originally Sam Good's room and office.
The HUMMINGBIRD room, at one time the play room for the children, has a Jenny Lind bed. The coziness of this room, the uniqueness of the 180 degree radiator and the Franklin fireplace are features that attract many guests. The original bath with its built-in tub and fixtures add charm.
The ORIOLE room has an antique spoon carved bed, antique dresser and wardrobe, and a gentlemen's chair. In contrast, there is a modern bath with a shower.
The versatile SCARLET TANAGER room may be made into a king bed or a set of twin beds. The antique dresser and piano desk add a Victorian flair to the room. The bathroom contains a shower.
In the BLUEBIRD room, if you search long enough you will find a safe tucked away in the bathroom. You may even think you can use the call box to get the maid to bring you a wonderful cup of hot chocolate. The Williamsburg queen bed and antique dresser along with two comfy chairs encourage you to sit and relax awhile.
The EAGLES NEST suite was the butler's quarters. A brass queen-size bed, an antique dresser and a love seat add greatly to the coziness. The second room, formerly the maid's room, is down the hall and decked out in white wicker furniture and a blue quilt. Because this room has no attached bathroom, it is only rented for families or very congenial people.

On a sunny day the guests may enjoy the swing and wicker furniture on the wrap around front porch and relax with a glass of iced tea or lemonade.
