Pomaika'i "Lucky" Farm Bed & Breakfast

Captain Cook, HI 00

photo1 for Pomaika'i

Experience living on a century-old working macadamia nut/Kona coffee farm, surrounded by birds, tropical fruit, and exotic flowers. All the mac nuts you can eat, plus hearty farm breakfast. Become part of the spectrum of living history, where more than 200 ancient Hawaiians farmed the narrow Keei strip to trade with their counterparts - the hunters in the mountains and the fishermen on the beach.

Location
In small town, Near beach, On wooded site and On island. Discover old Hawaii nearby at the Place of Refuge National Historical Park, Painted Church, and Kealakekua Bay, where Captain Cook met his death more than 200 years ago. Experience a corner of the Islands only 12 miles from Kailua-Kona yet still relatively untouched by tourism. Excellent nearby restaurants, hiking trails, and beaches. Best island snorkeling.

Accommodations
Your room reflects Hawaii outdoors, with screens that bring in the stars and moon at night and the sound of banana leaves on tin roofs. Awake to the smells of brewing Kona coffee and homemade bread, to begin your hearty farm breakfast. Look down on the surf at Keei Bay from the large lanai, where everyone gathers to watch the sunset in the evening. Eat all the mac nuts you can crack or collect your own from the farm.

Choose between the farmhouse, greenhouse, and coffee barn, most with private bath, entrances, and queen beds. Prepare picnics or simple dinners in the common kitchen area. Snorkels, coolers, and beach equipment are there for your use.

Amenities
Spend your days snorkeling among turtles, tropical fish, and playful dolphins. Or hike hidden beaches and trails where locals will regale you with folk tales. Most important, "hang loose" and enjoy Hawaiian aloha Pomaika'i Farm style. Television in parlor, VCR, Sitting room/library, Patio, Balcony, Laundry facilities, Therapeutic massage, Guest-accessible kitchen facilities, Cats in residence and Discounts/specials available
