A pre-Civil War building with Jamaican style architecture. Rustic & authentic, with much of original structure, and on the National Register of Historic Places. Gourmet Seafood dining room, serving local Cedar Key specialties. Like stepping back in time with muraled walls, paddle fans, French doors, & a wide wraparound porch which catches the gulf breezes. Cozy lounge bar completes a perfect place to get away from it all. 10 rooms.

Location
Cedar Key is a quiet island community nestled among many tiny keys on the Gulf Coast of Florida. Long admired for it's natural beauty and abundant supply of seafood, it is a tranquil village, rich with the almost forgotten history of old Florida. Take Highway 24 off Highway 19/98 in Florida, towards the southwest and Cedar Key. Continue for 24 miles, until you have crossed three bridges and are arriving in the outskirts of Cedar Key itself. Take a left at the stop sign, which is at the junction with 2nd Street, Cedar Key, and the Island Hotel is about three blocks down on the left.

Accommodations
The Island Hotel has 13 rooms, all of them individual and all having very little in common with the average motel. To preserve the romantic and traditional ambience, there are no televisions and no telephones in the rooms. Some have old fashioned claw foot tubs, and all have the original hand cut wooden walls and floors. All have access to the balcony, and are strictly non-smoking. Eleven of our rooms have private baths, and all have air conditioning, as well as the traditional ceiling fans.

Meals
The room rate includes a full waitress served breakfast in our dining room. Dine in our casual fine dining, gourmet seafood restaurant, serving a distinctively Cedar Key menu including soft shell crabs, oysters, stone crabs, and our chef's home made poppy seed bread. We also offer an exclusive selection of meat and vegetarian dishes. The dining room and screened porch are non-smoking for the comfort of our dining guests.

Amenities
This charming inn in Cedar Key is on theNational Register of Historic Buildings, and is one of Florida's most famous bed and breakfasts. Built in 1859, the Island Hotel at Cedar Key is constructed from seashell tabby with oak supports. It's walls have withstood hurricanes for almost 150 years, and it's sloping wooden floors have survived the passage of innumerable feet. Built as a general store and post office, it has changed little over the years. Sit on a rocker on the long balcony, and watch the sun set over the Gulf, or relax in our informal and cozy lounge bar, painted in 1945 with murals of Cedar Key, Florida and King Neptune, for whom the bar is named.
