The Elizabeth Pointe Lodge
Amelia Island, FL 00
Rated "One of the 12 best waterfront inns" in America, the Pointe sits overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Focusing on individualized attention, the inn is Nantucket "shingle style" (with a strong maritime theme, constructed in a 1890's), with an oversized soaking tub in each bath, fresh flowers, morning newspaper, full seaside breakfast and a staff that wants to exceed your expectations. Light food, dessert, and room service available all day. Only a short bike ride to the historic seaport of Fernandina. Horseback riding, tennis, golf and sailing nearby.
Location
Sometimes you have to be a little adventurous just to find Amelia Island . . it's not on all the maps (hint: the inn is located northeast of Jacksonville near where Florida and Georgia meet). It is getting away... Sitting prominently on the Atlantic Ocean barrier island of Amelia, porches surround the main floor of the 25 room country inn. Island sand dunes and long streches of often deserted beaches await the guest.
Accommodations
On the Elizabeth Pointe Compound guests have three lodging choices. In the "Main House" there are twenty rooms and suites with queen and king bedding options. 'Turn of the Century' accoutrements. Each room with an individual character. All with oversized marble tubs, some with jacuzzi. Adjacent to the Main House is the "Harris Lodge" which houses four larger deluxe sitting rooms. The "Miller Cottage" offers the final choice of 2 bedrooms and 2 baths for families or corporate gatherings.
Meals
Full breakfast of homemade goodies in the breakfast room or porch overlooking the ocean. Mini lunch and dinner items always available for guests who prefer to stay in; changes daily. Lemonade served each afternoon on porch or beach, wine at 6 p.m. Excellent desserts available late evening. Superb restaurants nearby.
